Let’s Meet Grimm’s…
If you’re not entirely familiar about this Grimm’s brand, let me to educate you!
Grimm’s Spiel & Holz (translating to “game and wood’) is situated within the Swabian Alps in Germany and is renowned for being among the most prestigious wood toy makers in the world. Family-owned, the company has been creating, producing as well as selling toys made of wood since 1978. They aim to make lasting, durable and long-lasting toys which are loved by children of all age groups!
Where do Grimm’s get their materials?
The wood (specifically alder, lime beech and maple) is exclusively sourced from sustainable managed forests in Europe. Grimm’s company is an FSC(r) (Forest Stewardship Council) certified business and is active in reforestation projects.
Unique!
As a natural substance, wood is always adorned with different marks which show up in the final product, making each one distinctive. Wood grain is constantly changing in structure and colors that serve as evidence of its natural nature. The distinctive variations in wood grain are a testament to the quality of the item and not a sign of imperfections. This is why you will feel special that you have the Grimm’s piece uniqueness that nobody else has!
What is the process of making the products?
The wood pieces are meticulously carved by hand before being delicately painted using non-toxic water-based staining. The wood is then oiled using the help of a variety of natural oils, with Linseed oil is the primary ingredient. The mix also includes thesetle oil soybean oil, and walnut oil.
Rainbow Goodness!
Every Grimm’s Rainbow is cut from one piece of wood. They are then hand-sewn together, creating an asymmetrical structure. This is the reason why the pieces are able to only be stacked in only one direction. The individual arcs are made to perfectly fit into one others, so that you are able to truly appreciate the craftsmanship!
